Vale Captain John Foley 1940-2015
Family, friends and colleagues of Capt. John Foley, Master Mariner and Great Barrier Reef â€˜Grand Pilotâ€™ gathered together at St. Augustineâ€™s Church, Hamilton, Brisbane on 26 June 2015 to farewell John and commemorate his life. It was said of his passing: â€œCaptain John Foley enjoyed a full life that would have been more than enough for two lesser men.â€
Australian Reef Pilots win training award
A coastal pilot training program tailored to the unique challenges of working on the Great Barrier Reef has been recognised by the Transport & Logistics Industry Skills Council (TLISC). Australian Reef Pilots (ARP) was awarded the 2015 Innovation and Excellence in Workforce Development Award in the maritime Sector for the competency-based training of its Pilot Boat Launch Crew.
